Whole Lotta Bellemare...

I'd love to complain more about that, but Schenn and Cousins kind of looked like crap, so it's hard to rip the heavy usage of Bellemare and VandeVelde tonight.

So instead of female doging about an ugly win. I'll be happy.

Totally dominated

How many times have we seen that mirror game? You know Flyers dominate and lose.

I'll thank the hockey gods and take the W.

They won and it's nice to see our goalie being the guy who stands on his head and steals the 2 points. This game showed the importance of what Couturier brings to the team and it really is amazing that they've won 6 in a row without him.

Lastly, congratulations boys, we have half of a top D pair! Provorov is the real deal. Now please sit Streit and get Gudas back in the lineup.

I'm a Jagr fan. It was too bad he parted from Philly but man that sequence when Jagr got penalized for hooking Proporov and was going at him for going down "easy" was amazing. The kids face was priceless.

I'm becoming a bigger fan of No. 9 every time I see him play.

It is time for Streit to sit. Seemed like he could never get the puck out and they were always under pressure when he was on the ice.
You know he will be moved at some point ( well we can hope)

I saw him play against the Marlies and he looked very steady in his own end. One thing I really liked was the physical element .. He finished every check. The Flyers could really use another physical Dman.

Like my dad always said, dont argue with results.

A win is a win. Ill take it.

Now, a few things that bothered me about last night.

There were (at least) three separate plays where the Flyers had a fresh G line out on the ice and advancing, and Raffl simply could not get the puck in deep. That cant happen. It kills that line. They are a possession trio and need to get the puck deep and start the cycle. Instead of wearing down the Panthers d, it results in a hell of a lot of work for the Flyers forwards having to get back.

Streit. I get it, he is a leader. He has been brutal lately. Let him take a few games off as soon as Gudas is good to go. He and MDZ have both looked flat.

I understand the Flyers were playing a bend-don't-break defensive oriented game (especially the 3rd), but Hak HAS to do a better job with his ice times. I would love to see the advanced stats from last nights game, but I dont know how to find that... Mason was insane, and with out him we dont get a point. I dont buy into the fact that VDV and Bellemare were shutting guys down. Mason was just cleaning things up.

The good things.

BGSM save % up to .908...all coinciding with Nuevirth getting hurt and BGSM becoming the #1 as he should be.

Now when Nuevy returns he will get three straight starts from Hackstol of course.

Step 1: trade Streit
Step 2: bring up Morin right after the deadline
Step 3: have AMac join Schultz in the press box
Step 4: Put Morin in

Provorov-Gudas
MDZ-Ghost
Manning-Morin

Mission accomplished

Morin, like MDZ, can't play the right side.

In terms of both time of puck possession and shot attempt differentials, the Panthers clobbered the Flyers. Florida attempted a whopping 85 shots -- 44 on net, 20 blocked by the Flyers and 21 that missed the net -- to 51 for the Flyers 925 on net, 16 blocked, 10 that missed the net. The Flyers goaltending, fortunately, was stellar.

Not a big surprise with three of the team's best puck possession players all out. Bellemare is not cut out to handle the ice time of a 2C or even a 3C, but I can't blame Hakstol for not being confident in Schenn and Cousins.

Zero goals and 4 assists in the last 13 games for Konecny now. The kid is awesome, but being a consistently productive teenager in the NHL is freaking hard unless you're a Laine/Marner type.

Was talking at the game last night with a gentleman wearing a McGillis jersey, We REALLY REALLY miss that style of play. The if you come at us without paying attention you are DONE style of defense. Gudas brings it but has to watch the line. Guys like McGillis barely heard from the league they knew when and how to hit someone and separate them from the puck at let their partner recover the loose puck.

Keep the roll going.

and Happy Birthday Coots!

I won't even try to look as my eye test last night told me what it will look like. How we won that game is one word. MASON.
